Community Supported Agriculture (CSA)

Community Supported Agriculture is a system by which members can participate in the production of their food. CSAs promote involvement in the means and methods of food production, re-imbuing the community into food systems. Blackbird Gardens' CSA differs from most CSA models as it emphasizes work over monetary contribution to the functioning of the farm.

A "Working Share" CSA

For the optimum experience in consumer involvement and local foods, we invite you to join our CSA (Community Supported Agriculture). Using a “working-share” organizational model, Blackbird Gardens requires less than the minimum cash payment of most CSAs in turn for 2 hours a week of committed gardening time from our members. It is our clear intention with the working-share CSA to empower people on a personal level with skills and knowledge to participate directly with their own food production. If learning about our operation on this most intimate level is of interest, please contact us. Members are invited to a fantastic spring potluck and late-summer “Juicy Tomato Moon Party” with fellow growers, small food business owners, and farmer’s market customers!
